“Il Mondo che Vorrei”: Children’s Creations Begin Their Journey to the Christmas Tree in St Peter’s Square

Fondazione Lene Thun will bring the hopes and creativity of young patients to the Vatican

20.07.2026

The journey of “Il Mondo che Vorrei” has begun. The art and educational project by Fondazione Lene Thun will accompany, all the way to Christmas, the works created by thousands of children and teenagers in ceramic therapy workshops held in hospitals across Italy.

Created by young artists during their care journeys, these works will become part of a major collective installation and will help decorate the Christmas Tree in St. Peter's Square.

The project carries a powerful symbolic meaning, giving children the opportunity to express “The World I Would Like”: a future shaped by peace, respect, friendship and shared beauty. Each creation holds far more than the clay from which it is made: it carries stories, dreams, courage and the extraordinary ability to keep imagining the future even in the most challenging moments.

The initiative has been made possible thanks to the welcome and support of the Holy See and the valuable contribution of the Governorate of Vatican City State, through its Directorate of Technical Services, Gardens Service and Events Coordination.

This journey has only just begun. Over the coming months, the project will follow the creations on their way to St Peter’s Square, sharing step by step the stories and hopes that will come together to shape “Il Mondo che Vorrei”.
